Melissa Addey "Melissa" (London, UK):
I had an unplanned caesarean and although it was all done very well there was not much info afterwards (when I left the hospital) so I ordered this book - I was very surprised how few books there seemed to be on the subject since something like 1 in 5 women has one! It's great, I had faith in it as soon as I read a really spot-on description of how the stitches feel! It has information on what is done and how, the scar healing, what to avoid (lifting etc) and then lots of info on exercises you can do as you recover, starting from day one in the hospital (really gentle tiny movements!) through to months later. Really pleased with it, wish the hospital had mentioned it or even given it out to anyone having a c-section. It also talks about planned (elective) caesareans. Great book.

Having had my first baby by emergency Caesarean and enduring a difficult recovery, I was very anxious about my second section. Thank goodness I bought this book. Instead of spending months hunched over too afraid to stand tall and get on with physical tasks, this book gave me the confidence to help myself recover. The day after the op I stood up straight, took a walk around the ward and have never looked back. If you are due to have a Caesarean, this book is worth every penny. Good luck with your births.
We like this book because ...
Caesareans are becoming more and more common and ours is the first and only book that is specifically designed to help mums recover from both planned and emergency ops.
